MGRC Mission Statement

Maple Grove Radio Club provides education to current and future amateur radio operators, with the goal of serving the public. We are a reliable communications resource for events and emergencies in Maple Grove and surrounding communities.

President’s Message May 2023

It’s not too late to get into the AERO 101 and 102 classes, “Intro to Emergency Communications” and “Advanced Emergency Communications”, offered on the evenings of May 1st, 3rd, 8th, and 10th. You will have to take the FEMA ICS classes 100 and 700 before Monday evening, and 200 and 800 before next week. These courses are a great way to learn the protocols we use not just for EmComm, but also public service like the MS bike rides and the Twin Cities Marathon.

Speaking of the MS bike rides, these are coming up soon, along with a lot of other events this summer that need communications support. This is a great way to practice your radio skills while serving the public. There should be an announcement elsewhere in this newsletter about where to sign up for this.

We have a great Skywarn team this year, but we can always use more help. Contact Zach if you’d like to get involved with this. Our next week on duty is May 15th-21st, storms should be starting to heat up around then.

Also, start thinking about Field Day, our most popular event, on June 24th and 25th.
